I actually really liked this Daily Create today. I tried out the poem creator they linked, but I did not like how it worked. So, I was somehow able to write it on my own. I’m surprisingly proud of the haiku that I wrote. It’s not the most creative, poetic, or interesting haiku that has ever been written; however, it has 5,7,5 syllables, following all the rules to a haiku. And yes, I have counted these syllables out loud multiple multiple multiple times. I love hiking so I chose to make my haiku about it, incorporating the prompt at the same time. It also describes a sort of feeling that you understand if you have been on an early morning hike. You hear the birds chirping in the trees, the bushes rustling, and you feel just pure happiness in that moment. I’m happy I could share that happiness with this Daily Create.

I used Procreate once more (easiest to use in my opinion) on my iPad. I don’t own any picture books so I had to look up photos of them, then photoshop them together. I chose to block out the unneeded words because 1) it makes it easier to read and 2) it’s a thing in book poetry to scribble out the words in the book you aren’t using to make poetry.
My “poem” reads: “I Had Trouble with the Words, I Wish that I Had Help, Will You Please Help”. I started off the idea thinking about the fact that I was having trouble putting the words in the book titles together to make a poem. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to come up with something really poetic, but then I thought, why not make it funny, talking about what I was going through when I was making it. And that is the final product!

Although Wal-ee is a robot found on Earth after humans ran the planet into waste, I felt like adding him to the picture because when I noticed that this photo was taken by a rover, I felt that Wal-ee was a perfect (and very cute) addition to the photo. I added little touches to make it feel more like a postcard that would be sent from Mars. Little NASA symbol in the corner, a stamp of course, and a fun line at the top, playing off of the human assumption that aliens would say greetings if they met us. As a marine biology major, I support the exploration of the ocean before space, but I do find it fascinating that we are able to take pictures on an entirely different planet and the technology is only advancing as time goes on. We need to be figuring out ways to save the planet we live on before we start poking into other planets to eventually ruin as well, but that’s just my personal take. That much money should be spent in a smart way, not just based on curiosity alone. After all, curiosity killed the cat.

For this Daily Create, I used Procreate, just like I used for the last one. It made it very easy to draw what I was envisioning when I saw the prompt for the Daily Create. I cannot wait for the Valentine’s Day themed Daily Creates that are coming our way for the next week and a half. There’s nothing more I love than getting to use my creativity for an assignment, and getting to take some time out of my week to draw is a very efficient stress-reliever.
The image I drew was inspired by a kaleidoscope (per the prompt) and I made sure to incorporate both hearts and peace signs into the design in order to complete the prompt full-circle. And if you can tell, the whole drawing itself is in the shape of a peace sign to pull it all together. Definitely my favorite Daily Create so far and it’s only day 2!

I honestly had no idea what to expect from this assignment. I was reading our class to-do list with such confusion when I saw this task. However, the more I looked into it, the more I grew to like it. Seeing 150-200 words initially looks so intimidating, but after completing my drawing for the assignment, it became easy to write about. I am very proud of my submission for today, although I wish I had used some more creativity. A flamingo doesn’t relate much to 2’s or Groundhog day, but I figured it was a cute design that would (hopefully) grab the attention of whoever sees the post. It took me much faster than I thought for the whole process. This made me realize how simple it would be to get at least 1 done a week. If I find myself with random time throughout the day, I would be able to crank out 2 or 3 of these in one sitting. Sounds like extra bonus points for meeee!
